DRAWERS FOR A CAUSE

Drawers are an item of furniture that isn’t often thought of but at Taranaki Women’s Refuge they are regularly needed.  Having a set of drawers to unpack your clothes into is more than just a piece of furniture.  It is a symbol of stability, of security and of being home.

That’s why we’ve launched Drawers for a Cause — a donation drive to collect pre-loved drawers for women and children who have been effected by domestic violence.

Why Drawers?

Because they’re always needed, but rarely donated.

Because when someone walks into one of our properties, they need more than just a bed — they need a space that feels like theirs.

Because placing clothes into a drawer is a small act, but one that says “This is mine. I’m safe here.”

How You Can Help

This ‘second-hand September’ we’ve partnered with Mediaworks Taranaki and  the team at Lions New Plymouth Club, who are generously offering to collect, refurbish, store, and deliver your unwanted drawers. These will be used to restock our properties and be gifted directly to women and their families as they begin rebuilding their lives.

So, if you have a sturdy set of drawers gathering dust in the garage, if you’re upgrading or you have a set that could use a repaint or a bit of a fix up – don’t throw them away. Pay them forward.
