Runway for Refuge 2023.
Tickets sold out within 13 minutes, with over 300 attendees and a collection of very generous New Zealand fashion designers there was a definite buzz in the air.
The show opened with a video from Trelise Cooper whose words were encouraging and uplifting. MC Anna Richardson expertly guided the evening throughout.
Guest speaker Mea Motu held the room as she shared her experience of Domestic Violence and such important insight. Her major take away was, not to be a bystander and to call the police. This resonated strongly with guests and will have real impact in our community.
A beautiful performance from Unity Wara opened the second half of the evening before Kris Rasmussen conducted the live auction of our Runway items.
The evening was a resounding success and raised over $57,000.00 net that will come directly to Taranaki Women’s Refuge to support women and children to become and remain free from Domestic Violence.
Acknowledgement must go to our outstanding committee for this year, Freya Smith, Tash Lewis, Victoria Garrick, Brooke Barrett and Event Manager Neisha Herbert. They have been passionate and dedicated to providing a fabulous fashion event and championing our cause.
A sincere thank you to our New Zealand Fashion Design community, the very many businesses and individuals who donated and attended the event and our wonderful volunteers. Together we can make magic happen!
